State Parks Camping Regulations General Camping Rules for State
Parks
Length of Stay – There is a 28 day maximum stay allowed per park
during any 45 day period. This may be 28 consecutive days or 28 days spread throughout
the 45 days.
Campsite Occupancy – One camping unit with up to 6 people
is allowed per campsite. A violation of this regulation may result in the visitor
being required to purchase an additional campsite (if available), or the reservation
may be terminated and the appropriate fees refunded. A camping unit is defined
as the maximum combination of camping equipment allowed in one campsite. The allowable
combinations are: One passenger vehicle and two tents; or One motorized vehicle
towing a camping trailer and one tent (if space allows) If space permits,
one additional passenger vehicle and/or motorcycle may be parked at a campsite.
Fees – Full Hookup $20 Electrical $16 Basic $12 Primitive
$7
There is an additional $2 camping fee per night at some campsites
May 1 – Labor Day at the following parks:
-Bonny Lake -Boyd Lake -Chatfield
-Cherry Creek -Golden Gate -Jackson Lake -Mueller -North Sterling -Pearl Lake
-Lake Pueblo -Ridgway -Rifle Falls -Steamboat Lake -Stagecoach -Sylvan Lake
No Show Policy – If a customer does not occupy their site within 24 hours
of their check in time and have not notified the park, ALL FEES ARE NONREFUNDABLE
and the site will be made available for resale.
Vehicle Pass – A vehicle
pass is required for all vehicles entering a State Park.
Daily Pass –
If a vehicle does not have an Annual pass, then a daily pass must be purchased
for $3 - $6 depending on which park your visiting and what time of year. Cherry
Creek State Park charges an additional $1. Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area
charges $2 per person for day-use in lieu of the $5 daily vehicle fee. Colorado
State Forest charges a $2 non-motorized entrance pass for visitors who walk or
bike in to the park.
Annual Vehicle Pass - $50 per vehicle
The
Annual vehicle entrance pass provides unlimited access to all 40 Colorado State
Parks for a full calendar year (Jan-Dec).
Multiple Annual Vehicle Pass
- $15. After purchasing an Annual pass at full price. Additional vehicles must
be owned by the same party that purchased the original pass to be eligible for
the multiple pass. The multiple pass can only be purchased at Colorado State Parks
and Administrative Offices. Copies of all pertinent vehicle registrations and
proof of annual pass purchase are required. Aspen Leaf Annual Pass - $10
Colorado residents who are 62 years of age or older may purchase a $10 annual
vehicle pass. Only available for purchase at Colorado State Park and Administrative
Offices. Columbine Pass - $12.50
The Columbine Pass is an annual
pass for permanently disabled people. Individuals with Disabled Veterans license
plates receive free entrance to state parks. Applications are available at all
Park Offices.
Pets – Pets are welcome in most State Parks. They must
be kept on a six foot leash and be under control at all times. Some cabins and
yurts allow pets for a $10 per night fee. Please remember to pick up after your
pets.
Off-Season Camping – Some State Parks do not have campsites available
for reservations during the off season, but allow camping on a first-come,first-served
basis. Some campgrounds are closed completely during the off season. Only cabins,
yurts and a limited number of campsites are reserved during winter.
Minors
– A parent or guardian must accompany youths under 18 years of age. The person
whose name appears on the reservation is responsible for the condition of the
site. The Park Manager may approve the stay of a youth. For questions, please
call the park directly.
